Mission Sunday School

The Mission Sunday School was moved permanently to Whitham Road  in 1891.

It was previously the fish market.

It was purchased by the Mission Sunday School by the trustees for £400 in 1905.

During the miners strike in 1926, the Education Authority assumed the responsibility of feeding needy school children at the mission hall, were 500 children turned up on the first day.

In 1941 during the second world war a rest centre was set up at the mission hall to provide a refuge for Liverpool families.

It was situated next to Stanley Coronation park, but was demolished in the 1960s.
