I lived here from 1966 until 1977. My Dad was the New town artist in residence. We had a garden full of things to climb on, made by my Dad and the garden was always full of kids. Every year it would flood. The water use to come up through the floor as it only had compacted earth foundations. Also the previous tenant had tried to fill the well outside with gravel.
hi saul did you go to st threases school in upholland as i remember the name from long a go and did you get the school bus nr where the old tue and sat market used to be the head teachers name was miss macmannmara and the kids would streach her name on . the bottom of spencers lane .
Hello Saul, The big barn that used to be at the left of the property which is now converted into flats, is it the building showing behind the farm house? Do you have any information /gossip about the old property at the top of the hill on the same side. Did someone called Jane live there or were they the Roughleys? That’s where I’ve been living for the past 30 years. I’m trying to research the property – 3rd time lucky – and would be grateful for any anecdotes. I’ve just found out that the property on the 1911 census was listed as being a Cottage Hospital. Can’t find any info about it except for a William Wilson who was the Caretaker employed by Wigan District Council
