Used to go there with my parents when I was a little lad in the 1960’s. It was owned by a farmer called Wilkinson, who had a brother who delivered coal in the Orrell area.
We would go there to get a fresh chicken which Mr Wilkinson would dispatch in the barn, a bit gruesome but thats what happened in those days. ( No KFC or Mc Donalds then. ) It was taken home and hung in the garden shed for a day then plucked of feathers, cleaned and then cooked. Best tasting chicken I ever had.
